Vancouver Leather Titleholders:
Mr Vancouver Leather 2005: Christopher Edmunds

My name is Christopher Edmunds, and I am a proud to call Vancouver BC my home. I was born in Prince George BC, and have lived across Canada over the years, Edmonton, Calgary, Halifax NS. I became enamoured with the city on a visit after moving back from Halifax, and visiting Vancouver for the first time again in many years.

Shortly after moving here, I had the wonderful fortune to meet several incredible people that showed what a great Leather Community existed here in Vancouver. Many of these people became my family, and in a time that I needed one the most, they were there for me. Some of the best mentors and role models in my life were here in BC and Alberta...my main starting points in leather and community.

I was involved with “View to a Thrill” at Denman Station, a joint effort from several communities in BC and Alberta headed up by Jim Alexander of Northern Chaps Edmonton Alberta. That same year I participated in behind the scenes work on the 1991 NW Drummer and Drummerboy contest, and participated in the on stage fantasy for John Sanduliak in San Francisco CA. That same year was involved in several fundraisers against the Oregon Christian Alliance, with John and Bobby Asselstine, both here in Vancouver as well as Seattle WA.

Over the years, I have joined VML, and done volunteer work during the socials. Have done volunteer work with BCPWA Vancouver. In Edmonton, was involved with GALA and Edmonton’s gay youth club, In Calgary I joined Camp 181 and was involved in events and set up with that organization. I was also a member of Club Calgary before moving to Vancouver. Am currently involved in work on a self help group with a few community members for abuse issues in BDSM relationships.

A lot of the contests and events I attended over the years showed what great unity can exist when people pull together and work for a common goal, and I still smile looking back at the events back then with great joy and hope as well. Vancouver is coming back from a long period of loss and sadness, and a new family is growing again stronger than before.

I am very proud to be Mr. Vancouver Leather 2005, and look forward to a year of hard work and be a part of this wonderful city and the great people we share it all with. I am committed be a representative that will be worthy of our fine City.

I would like to make an open invitation to hear from people here in Vancouver, please come up and talk, let Anna and myself hear what you say about Vancouver and the Leather community. Share your ideas and thoughts with us, and together we all can work for some positive changes here in Vancouver in 2005. I look forward to a great year, and look forward to rising to the challenges in our community that face us as well.

Yours in Leather
Chris Edmunds
